In 1995 Physician Assistant Program was initiated by EVMS (Eastern Virginia Medical School) when no program was existed in Virginia. This was the first master’s degree program in Virginia. EVMS Physician Assistant Program leading you to a wonderful new career. You will learn and grow in a challenging environment.
In Jan 1995 there initial classes were held in Andrews Hall, but from Sept 2000 to 2010 the program classes were conducted on the first floor of Lewis Hall. In July 2011, the classes were moved on the third floor of Lester Hall.
There were only 27 students in the inaugural class of evms PA program, but as the demand increases, number of student also increases which increases the class size. In 2002, there were 36 students enrolled. In Jan 2005, class size increased up to 50. In 2012 class size was gradually increase to 65 and to 80 students per class in Jan 2013.
EVMS is the Physician Assistant program (evms pa Program) which provides master’s degree to you. This course provides you a new career in the field of Physician where you can learn how to grow and adjust in today’s challenging environment. EVMS provide comprehensive health for the students across their lifespan by providing training them in the medical art and science and fostering a strong commitment to our community along with personal and professional development.

Some Achievement achieved by EVMS
In June 1998, the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) visited the Physician Assistant Program at EVMS. In August 1998, State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) reviewed the revised application for a master’s degree education Program. CAAHEP awarded the evms PA Program provisional accreditation on October 16, 1998, for the period of 1998-2001.
